WOYWW 264 Cushions

I managed to get quite a lot of the jigsaw puzzle from last week done at my sisters, mostly because my bag was left behind so I had no clothes or my book so all I could do was the puzzle!! Luckily my sisters and niece were able to get me some bits and pieces as I wasn't able to leave the house! Here's the progress so far (I had to leave it behind as it wouldn't fit in the car!) actually I managed to do a bit more but I don't seem to have a pic, all the bottom half is done and most of the sky (which was a pain to do) so it won't take long to finish when I get it back.

Had a lovely weekend tho, and we surprised the parents with a wedding anniversary card (35th!!) and a holiday which we have booked for all of us to go to Swanage next year which will be great :-)

Anyway onto my work desk this week....well as I'm sure all of you mothers out there know dryclean only does not mix with babies so I'm giving my sofa a make over with some new washable cushions. As I couldn't find any machine washable ones I liked in the shops I've decided to make some so I've bought some white cotton and three colours of dye so I can mix the colours that I want! Hopefully I'll get time at the weekend, whether permitting when the other half can look after baby! I plan to use shibori to create a pattern using a limeish green colour and a teal colour...hopefully (there are not guarantees with dying!).

And I'm hoping to experiment with the leftover fabric and some dylon due stripper. I can't get hold of the decrolin that I used at uni so I'm hoping this is a good alternative to practically remove some of the dye, will have to experiment with the quantities to get the effect I'm looking for!

WOYWW 263 Jigsaw puzzle.

Hi everyone,

I've been making slow progress with my baby blanket over the last week. Here's a pic just incase you missed it last week as Julia was ill, hopefully she is feeling better this week.

This week I'm afraid my work desk isn't that exciting as I am going to be staying at my sisters on Friday as our husbands are away for trail marathon wales!

So I'm going to be on my own Friday afternoon at my sisters while she is at work and the guys are making there way to wales. As I can only take so much in the car what with the pushchair etc I decided that I would start putting together a jigsaw puzzle from Disneyland Paris that I bought for my dad quite a few years ago now that I want to put in my sons room. My sister has bought a frame for me so I'll be able to transport it back. I've sorted out the edge and corner pieces (in the red box) in advance to speed things up a bit, hopefully I'll get it finished!

Hopefully next week I'll have something more exciting on my work desk as I need some more cushions for my sofa (dry clean only does not mix with baby's!) and as I can't find anything I like I'm going to dye and make some myself that way I'll get what I want!

I'm going to use a technique called shibori that I learnt during my degree so that they will have some pattern on! The background of this blog is one of the pieces I did in my final year with a drawing I did over the top.

Father's Day card

I'm not usually into card making. However when I realised that the card I had from last year (I forgot it and bought another) was actually a birthday card I decided to make one. Mainly because I was being lazy as I didn't really want to walk into town for the 3rd time this week. To be fair at a quick glance it looks like a Father's Day card!!

Anyway it's amazing what you can do with an iPhone, a printer, some photo paper and sugar paper in a rush!! There's an app in the App Store called Moldiv which creates photo collages that you can save to your photo library. It also allows you to add text and stamps. So I made this using some photos from Facebook and my phone and I'm pretty pleased with it :-) Thankfully I can print straight from my phone so there was no messing about with a laptop. Tho I did mess up the first print as the paper was the wrong way round but it looks pretty cool!

Here's the finished card...a pic of me and my sisters when we were little and then a pic of each of us grown up.

WOYWW 262 baby blanket

I may have been a little too optimistic on my last post about finishing my white work kit! Here's the pic as I added it later so some of you may have missed it!

Sorry I didn't post last week but my little one was Ill with his first cold so I didn't manage to get anything done as lots of cuddles were needed. He also had his first set of injections last Wednesday and was really grizzly in the afternoon so I just couldn't get my post done!

Anyway I've decided to try something a little bit easier to pick up and put down so I am going to try and finish the baby blanket I started when I found out I was pregnant (yes I know it's taken a long time but I got bored! Should have done squares to make it more interesting but it's too late now!)
