WOYWW 306 Birthday boy!

Last week was my little boys birthday!! Can't believe he's one already. So we had a lovely family party at the weekend and spent his birthday at birdworld.

I decided that I was going to make his cake. I'm really please at how it turned out considering that I have never made a two tier cake before!!

I also managed to finally finish the crochet jacket for him that I started ages ago....a few days after his birthday but nevermind!

Little man has his 1yr jabs today so wish me luck as I'm going on my own this time as daddy has to work  :-(

WOYWW 303 Nappie holders

I finally managed to find some free time at the weekend while my two men watched the rugby (well one watched, the other caused mayhem as he's learnt to throw/chuck stuff).

Anyway I made these lovely nappy holders from the Fabric from a couple of post ago, I find nappies get squashed in my changing bag as there aren't any pockets.

Mines the one with nappies in and the others are for some mummy friends!

I also had a go at the broomstick crochet but it turns out a kitchen roll holder isn't quite as good as a proper knitting needle so going to have to wait till I can borrow one from my mum.

WOYWW 302 Chair Socks

I finally gave in and joined Pinterest this week and boy am I glad I did!! I can't believe I haven't joined sooner it's full of wonderful ideas...most of which I would never have thought of!!

Including chair socks!

Now this may seem like a silly idea but they are brilliant! I have hard flooring in my dining room and I don't want it scratched by chairs so I tired using foam pads but not very successfully...anyway I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was worth a try! Here's a pic of mine:

had to adapt the pattern to fit my chairs but I am very pleased with the result. They slide easier so it's easier to get up when ur sat at the table..and they don't make as much noise!

I've also discovered broomstick crochet and this lovely pattern so I'm going to give this a go...hopefully you can see my attempt next week!

WOYWW 300

Make It in farnborough was on at the weekend so I popped along with my mum (fairy thoughts) and had a look around. It was probably better for card makers/paper art things but I did have a lovely but short (had my little monster with us) time printing a tea towel with Indian wood blocks!

Quite pleased with it though it slightly annoying that the centre pattern isn't in the middle but nevermind!! I'm going to keep it nice and use it to cover dough when I'm making bread!

Also picked up a few lovely fat quarters, the top three I'm going to use to make some nappy holders to go in changing bags for myself (the triangle print) and a couple of mummy friends (the ducks and owls) so watch this space! I'm hoping to do them at the weekend!

I also bought a watch face with the intention of making a crochet strap using yarn and a fastener I already had and I actually managed to find time to make it!! Think that's the quickest I've actually finished something after a show!!

WOYWW 297 Competition

I know it's been ages since my last post but I've been so busy! I have been shortlisted in a print design competition this week!

This is my entry:

Please vote for my design which you can do until midnight Saturday the 14th (GMT) here: http://byhandlondon.com/blogs/by-hand-london/17096064-once-upon-a-dream-fabric-competition-the-shortlist

I have been really busy looking after this little monster, who is now crawling, standing, walking along furniture and generally getting into everywhere he shouldn't!

Last week he enjoyed his first time touching snow!

I've also been busy finally making the curtains for his room! It was my first time making curtain and I had to start with the more difficult type of heading (pinch pleat using a tape) and it was a 1.5 width pair too. Was slightly worried I was going to mess it up but thankfully it worked out perfectly! Just need to do a few finishing touches but I can't decide whether to put buttons on the pleats or not? Little mans room is now nearly finished, just needs a few pictures put up.

I'm hoping to start designing embroidery kits soon so will try and start posting a bit more often!

WOYWW 277

Hi Everyone,

So I managed to finish the jumper last week, really pleased with it! I have put a little anchor on it but that was after I took the pic.

I've managed to get some pics of the bits I did in the crockery as promised. I am really please with how they turned out.

But the best thing is a tea for one pot that my mum bought my husband to paint for his birthday. He has done a very good job. BANANAAAA!!!

Now I just need to finish the other jacket I'm making!

WOYWW 276 Sailor Jumper

So I know I said last week I would have some bits from the crockery to show you but my mums been really busy so they haven't been picked up yet! Hopefully next week!

Anyway the jumper is progressing nicely, only have part of one sleeve to finish then I can sew it all together, yay!! :-) can't wait to put it on him it's going to look cute (and probably a little on the big side!)

Oh I nearly forgot about the card I made yesterday for my Grandma as a thank you. I finally downloaded a reduced version of Photoshop onto my tablet so I thought I would have a play around as I wanted to send a card with my sons hand and footprints in a pattern. So rather than do lots with paint which would be very messy and difficult to do on my own I took a photo of a role we made a while back with them on. This is what I came up with...

I couldn't send it to my phone so I had to take a pic of the screen :-( here's the original tile...

Anyway better get back to it!
